WingScope is an independent, non-profit public health and entomological research initiative based in Bangladesh. WingScope is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representative of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) or any government entity in Bangladesh.

National, divisional, district, and hospital surveillance statistics displayed in the app are compiled from publicly available daily press releases published by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) at https://dghs.gov.bd.

2. Microphone & Foreground Service Permission

The WingScope app requests the following permissions for its acoustic mosquito scanner: RECORD_AUDIO, FOREGROUND_SERVICE, and FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE.

How It Works: When the user manually taps “Start acoustic scanner,” the app uses Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) signal processing on the device’s processor to analyze ambient sound frequencies between 300 Hz and 600 Hz in real time to detect mosquito wingbeat harmonics (Culex, Aedes, and Anopheles).

Strict Audio Privacy Guarantee: WingScope never records, saves, stores, or uploads human speech, conversations, or raw audio files (.wav, .mp3, or PCM streams) to any device storage or cloud server. Audio samples are processed in volatile memory (RAM) in real time to calculate frequency numbers (Hz) and are discarded immediately.

Background Operation: The scanner runs as a user-initiated Foreground Service with a visible persistent notification and can be stopped at any time by tapping “Stop acoustic scanner” inside the app.

3. Location Data (GPS Coordinates)

The app includes the ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION permissions. Location access is strictly optional and on-demand. It is only requested when a user voluntarily taps “Locate (GPS)” while submitting a community case report or when logging an acoustic mosquito detection to map vector hotspots. Users can use the Overview dashboard, Care Center, and Community Reporting (by typing their area name manually) without granting GPS permission.

4. Voluntary Community Health Reports

Users can voluntarily submit community outbreak reports (Dengue or Measles), including whether the case affects themselves, a family member, or a neighbor, clinical status (lab confirmed, doctor suspected, or symptoms), optional symptom indicators, division, and area/hospital name. This data is used solely for non-profit epidemiological research and public hotspot awareness, and is never sold or shared with advertisers. We do not show ads.

5. User Accounts & Device Identifiers (Firebase)

WingScope uses Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. By default, the app assigns a random, anonymous Device UID (Device ID) so users can track their personal scanner logs and submitted reports without creating an account. If a user optionally signs in using “Continue with Google,” the app collects their Google account name, email address, and profile photo URL solely to link their reports and scanner logs across devices. All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.

6. Account & Data Deletion Instructions

Users have the right to delete their Google-linked account, anonymous device profile, acoustic scan logs, and submitted case reports at any time. Users can request complete deletion by emailing [email protected] or visiting https://www.wingscope.org/delete-account. Deletion requests are processed within 7 days, permanently removing the user’s records from Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore.

7. Medical Disclaimer & Hardware Limitations (Terms of Use)

The Prevention & Care Center guides (for Dengue and Measles) are for general public health awareness only and are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a registered physician before taking any medication or giving Vitamin A or medicine to a child. WingScope is not liable for self-medication or clinical decisions.

The 300 to 600 Hz acoustic mosquito scanner is an experimental Beta research tool dependent on smartphone microphone hardware and ambient noise, not a certified medical or pest-control diagnostic device.

উইংস্কোপ (WingScope) বাংলাদেশে অবস্থিত একটি স্বাধীন ও অলাভজনক জনস্বাস্থ্য এবং কীটতাত্ত্বিক গবেষণা উদ্যোগ। উইংস্কোপ স্বাস্থ্য অধিদপ্তর (DGHS) বা বাংলাদেশ সরকারের কোনো সংস্থার সাথে যুক্ত, অনুমোদিত বা প্রতিনিধি নয়।

অ্যাপে প্রদর্শিত জাতীয়, বিভাগীয়, জেলা এবং হাসপাতালের ডেঙ্গু ও হামের পরিসংখ্যান স্বাস্থ্য অধিদপ্তরের (DGHS) ওয়েবসাইটে (https://dghs.gov.bd) প্রকাশিত দৈনিক পাবলিক প্রেস রিলিজ থেকে সংকলিত।

২. মাইক্রোফোন ও ফোরগ্রাউন্ড সার্ভিস অনুমতি

মশার ডানার শব্দ তরঙ্গ শনাক্তকরণের জন্য অ্যাপটি RECORD_AUDIO, FOREGROUND_SERVICE, এবং FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE অনুমতি ব্যবহার করে।

এটি যেভাবে কাজ করে: ব্যবহারকারী যখন নিজ হাতে “Start acoustic scanner” বাটনে ট্যাপ করেন, তখন অ্যাপটি ফাস্ট ফুরিয়ার ট্রান্সফর্ম (FFT) সিগন্যাল প্রসেসিং ব্যবহার করে ৩০০ Hz থেকে ৬০০ Hz এর মধ্যবর্তী শব্দের ফ্রিকোয়েন্সি বিশ্লেষণ করে মশার (কিউলেক্স, এডিস এবং অ্যানোফিলিস) ডানার কম্পন শনাক্ত করে।

কঠোর অডিও গোপনীয়তার নিশ্চয়তা: উইংস্কোপ কখনোই মানুষের কথা, কথোপকথন বা কোনো অডিও ফাইল (.wav, .mp3 বা PCM স্ট্রিম) ফোনের মেমোরি বা ক্লাউড সার্ভারে রেকর্ড, সংরক্ষণ বা আপলোড করে না। অডিও স্যাম্পল শুধুমাত্র ফোনের অস্থায়ী মেমোরিতে (RAM) রিয়েল-টাইমে বিশ্লেষণ করে ফ্রিকোয়েন্সি (Hz) নির্ণয় করা হয় এবং সাথে সাথেই মুছে ফেলা হয়।

ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ড অপারেশন: স্ক্যানার চলাকালীন একটি দৃশ্যমান নোটিফিকেশন থাকে এবং ব্যবহারকারী যেকোনো সময় অ্যাপের ভেতরে “Stop acoustic scanner” চেপে এটি বন্ধ করতে পারেন।

৩. লোকেশন ডেটা (GPS Coordinates)

অ্যাপে ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION এবং ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION অনুমতি সম্পূর্ণ ঐচ্ছিক। শুধুমাত্র ব্যবহারকারী যখন কেস রিপোর্ট করার সময় বা মশা শনাক্তকরণের লগ যুক্ত করার সময় স্বেচ্ছায় “Locate (GPS)” বাটনে ট্যাপ করেন, তখনই লোকেশন ব্যবহৃত হয়। জিপিএস অনুমতি না দিয়েও ওভারভিউ ড্যাশবোর্ড, কেয়ার সেন্টার এবং ম্যানুয়ালি এলাকার নাম লিখে কমিউনিটি রিপোর্ট করা যায়।

৪. স্বেচ্ছায় প্রদত্ত কমিউনিটি স্বাস্থ্য রিপোর্ট

ব্যবহারকারীরা স্বেচ্ছায় ডেঙ্গু বা হামের কেস রিপোর্ট (আক্রান্ত ব্যক্তি, পরীক্ষার অবস্থা, লক্ষণ, বিভাগ ও এলাকা বা হাসপাতালের নাম) জমা দিতে পারেন। এই তথ্য শুধুমাত্র অলাভজনক জনস্বাস্থ্য গবেষণা ও হটস্পট সচেতনতার জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয় এবং কখনোই কোনো বিজ্ঞাপনদাতার কাছে বিক্রি বা শেয়ার করা হয় না।

৫. ইউজার অ্যাকাউন্ট ও ডিভাইস আইডি (Firebase)

উইংস্কোপ গুগল ফায়ারবেস অথেনটিকেশন (Firebase Authentication) এবং ক্লাউড ফায়ারস্টোর (Cloud Firestore) ব্যবহার করে। ডিফল্টভাবে অ্যাপটি একটি র‍্যান্ডম অ্যানোনিমাস ডিভাইস আইডি (Device UID) তৈরি করে। ব্যবহারকারী চাইলে ঐচ্ছিকভাবে “Continue with Google” ব্যবহার করে সাইন-ইন করতে পারেন, যা শুধুমাত্র রিপোর্ট ও লগ সিঙ্ক করার জন্য নাম, ইমেইল ও প্রোফাইল ছবির লিংক সংগ্রহ করে। সকল ডেটা HTTPS/TLS দ্বারা এনক্রিপ্টেড থাকে।

৬. অ্যাকাউন্ট ও ডেটা মুছে ফেলার নিয়ম

ব্যবহারকারীরা যেকোনো সময় তাদের গুগল-সংযুক্ত অ্যাকাউন্ট, অ্যানোনিমাস ডিভাইস প্রোফাইল, স্ক্যান লগ এবং কেস রিপোর্ট মুছে ফেলার অনুরোধ করতে পারেন। এজন্য [email protected] ঠিকানায় ইমেইল করুন অথবা https://www.wingscope.org/delete-account পেজ ভিজিট করুন। অনুরোধ পাওয়ার ৭ দিনের মধ্যে ফায়ারবেস থেকে সকল তথ্য স্থায়ীভাবে মুছে ফেলা হয়।

৭. চিকিৎসা সতর্কীকরণ ও হার্ডওয়্যার সীমাবদ্ধতা (ব্যবহারের শর্তাবলী)

প্রতিরোধ ও কেয়ার সেন্টারের (ডেঙ্গু ও হাম) নির্দেশিকা শুধুমাত্র সাধারণ জনস্বাস্থ্য সচেতনতার জন্য প্রদত্ত এবং এটি কোনো রেজিস্টার্ড চিকিৎসকের পরামর্শ, রোগ নির্ণয় বা চিকিৎসার বিকল্প নয়। যেকোনো ওষুধ গ্রহণ বা শিশুকে ভিটামিন এ বা ওষুধ দেওয়ার আগে অবশ্যই চিকিৎসকের পরামর্শ নিন। স্ব-চিকিৎসার জন্য উইংস্কোপ দায়ী নয়। ৩০০ থেকে ৬০০ Hz অ্যাকোস্টিক মশা স্ক্যানারটি একটি পরীক্ষামূলক (Beta) গবেষণা টুল যা ফোনের মাইক্রোফোন ও চারপাশের শব্দের ওপর নির্ভরশীল।
